A heartbreaking new video of the Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Islamic extremists shows them bravely speaking out about their ordeal for the first time.

The footage, not released publicly but seen by The Mail On Sunday was taken in a jungle clearing a month after their abduction.

The girls in the video look healthy, but it is understood that fraught negotiations are under way to broker the release several pupils who have fallen ill, including one with a broken wrist.

Billionaire businessman Sir Richard Branson came under increasing pressure on Thursday to personally step in to prevent the deportation of a Nigerian mother and her two small girls, who she says are at risk of female genital mutilation.

Supporters of Afusat Saliu, 31, and her two daughters, Basirat, three, and Rashidat, one, have been contacting Branson on Twitter, after it emerged that the family were due to be sent to Lagos on a flight operated by his airline Virgin Atlantic.

Saliu and her children were taken into custody by Home Office officials and have been transported from their home in Leeds to London for removal, the family's lawyer told the Guardian. They are currently being held at Heathrow airport, according to her lawyer.

Saliu, a victim of female genital mutilation, has previously spoken of her conviction that her daughters will also be mutilated and her fear that, as Christians, they could be targeted by the Nigerian Islamic extremist group Boko Haram, which recently kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls.

They say Pastor Chris, recently, has never been never spotted with his wife by his side - not during ministry conferences, not during conferences by other ministers and NEVER during the monthly communion service transmitted live from a TV studio.

Meanwhile other high ranking women in the ministry close to Pastor. Chris always travel with him and are seen around him. That Rev Anita has not been seen in church since January 2014 and Pastor Chris does not find it fit to address his congregation who support him with so much money.

The #BringBackOurGirls campaigners in Abuja were on Wednesday attacked by hooligans. During the attack, which lasted about 30 minutes, the thugs raided Unity Fountain, where the campaigners have been meeting everyday for the past 29 days, beating up journalists, destroying chairs, and confiscating cameras and phones. Policemen at the venue watched on while the thugs attacked civilians with bottles and other sharp objects. “The attack was fierce,” one of the campaigners told TheCable. “The attackers acted as if they were on drugs. Some of them were wearing red shirts with the inscription, #releaseOurGirlsNow.” The campaigners have been meeting at the fountain every day since April 30, 2014, to pressure the federal government into revving up its efforts to rescue the 276 female pupils of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, abducted last month by Boko Haram.

Prolific African-American poet Maya Angelou has passed away at 86. Reports say the respected poet and author died at her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.

Guy B Johnson, Angelou’s son confirmed the news in a statement; ‘Her family is extremely grateful that her ascension was not belabored by a loss of acuity or comprehension. She lived a life as a teacher, activist, artist and human being. She was a warrior for equality, tolerance and peace.

One of the schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram sect from Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State has reportedly escaped from the Boko Haram den.

According to an online portal, TheCable, National Chairman of the Kibaku Area Development Association, Dr. Pogu Bitrus, made this known on Tuesday night.

The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberisima has denied being an ex-convict. She said this during an exclusive interview with Net.Ng in her Surulere office in Lagos. Although she confirmed she was in jail for a total of 93 days, she maintained it was for a traffic offence and said that should not be used against her ‘No, I am not an ex-convict…I was charged. I am in court and I am appealing‘, she stated. "Stop Abusing my Husband!" - Dame Patience Jonathan Tells Nigerians

President Goodluck Jonathan's wife, according to a report on Punch, on Tuesday advised Nigerians to desist from abusing her husband because God Himself made him the head of the nation.

While addressing children at an event she organized to mark the 2014 Children’s Day at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja and also quoting from the Holy Bible, Dame Patience said:

“It is bad to abuse our country and the President because God has made him the head. The Almighty God commands us to pray for our leaders. We therefore need to pray for the development of our country and the president.

Remember that a child that abuses his father and mother is disobeying God’s commandment because the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 that you should honour your father and mother so that you may live long in the land that the Lord your God has given you. The Holy Bible is not referring to only biological parents. Any one that is older than you even for a day must be respected. Let us therefore join hands and rebuild our country Nigeria.”

The event which featured special inter-faith prayers for the release of the schoolgirls also saw some children presenting letters of demand on the abducted girls addressed to the Boko Haram sect to the President’s wife. The President’s wife however said since she did not know members of the sect, she would forward the children’s letters to the National Security Adviser orthe Chief of Defence Staff.

“Let me thank the children that gave me letter to give Boko Haram. Well, I have received your letter, but I am not the one to give it to Boko Haram because I don’t know Boko Haram and I have never seen Boko Haram. But I will give it to the National Security Adviser or Chief of Defence Staff who will submit your letter accordingly.

A legal practitioner in Abuja, Festus Keyamo, on Tuesday appealed to the Federal Government to reopen the case of late Toba Falode, who was allegedly murdered in Dubai.

Toba, son of sport commentator, Aisha Falode, died when he fell from the 17th floor of a storey building on February 15. His mother, after speaking to Toba’s schoolmates, believes he was pushed.

Mr. Keyamo made the appeal during an interactive session with the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora. He expressed dismay with the conduct of the Dubai Police in handling the matter.

Another National Conference Delegate, Emir of Gombe, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Usman Shehu Abubakar is dead.The late first-class monarch, whose death was announced tonight, assumed the throne in the mid-1980s.
Mr. Abubakar died, Tuesday evening, at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Fulham Road, London, the United Kingdom, where he was undergoing treatment for cancer.

Nollywood star Chika Ike has today, Children’s day visited her alma mata St. Francis Catholic Secondary School in Lagos, surprising the students of the institution.
