Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has accused his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, of allegedly spending the sum of one hundred and fifty million dollars ($150m) to finance the 2015 elections of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Wike made the allegation while speaking at a thanksgiving service held at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Rumueprikom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

 A witness in the ongoing trial of the National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, and his company, Destra Investment Limited on Thursday, 4 February told Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that, he was paid a total sum of N25m out of the N400 million arms fund linked to the PDP spokesperson.

Abba Dabo, while being led in evidence by counsel to EFCC, Sylvanus Tahir, told the court that, he was paid a total sum of N25m, through the second defendant’s company account, Destra Investment Limited on December 16, 2014.

The crowned face of VL 2016 has been dethroned for what the organizers term, her lack of commitment, availability and not been able to meet up with the the brand's requirements. This was made known via a post titled "Amarachi Joyce Mbatu No Longer Face Of VL 2016," on the organizers website yesterday.

But in a Facebook post today, Amarachi revealed the actual reason why she was dethroned, less than a month after winning the pageant. She also said the topless photoshoot was to be held outside Lagos. The first runner up ( Damaris Obieke) will now be crowned in the coming days....

BREAKING: James Ibori released from UK prison, re-arrested to face another charge

 Former governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori has completed his prison terms in the United Kingdom. But he is yet to be a free man, as he was immediately re-arrested.


TheNEWS learnt that Ibori jailed 13 years in April 2012 by a Southwark Crown court in London was released by prison authorities on 22 January.


He was released from Her Majesty’s Prison in Bedford, outside of London, where he finished his prison term. He was also initially at the Long Lartin Prison in Worcestershire.
