An Ilorin Area Court in Kwara State has dissolved the six-year-old marriage between one Aminat Toheeb and her husband, Ismaila, over childlessness.
Thirty-year-old Aminat, a resident of Tanke area, Ilorin, Kwara State capital, had earlier prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Ismaila since the union had not produced any child.
The plaintiff told the court that her husband did not show any concern towards their predicament, but rather engaged in extra-marital affairs while he kept blaming her for their challenge.
“My husband did not encourage me as was expected of him. He instead found fault in all I did,” she said.
According to her, their marriage was contracted in 2007 and was yet to produce a child.
“My Lord, I want an end to this marriage because I can’t continue to stay in a marriage that has brought forth no child,” Aminat added.
The defendant, who did not object to the prayer of his wife, said she was free to go.
