A 54-year-old estate manager, Olugbenga Temionu, recently dragged his wife, Ibironke Temionu, before a Lagos Customary Court sitting in Oja Oba, Lagos State, for divorce stating infidelity as part of the reason for divorce.
Gbenga in his testimony before the court stated that his wife is adulterous and is a gossip, adding that she went about telling people that his mother stole meat from her pot of soup.
According to him, his wife is having an affair with a herbalist who gives her charm which she uses for alleged protection in the house.
“My wife is too diabolical. I caught her half naked with the herbalist chanting incantations in a calabash that she was carrying on her head.”
He added that his wife is troublesome and fights other tenants.
According to him, she once slapped a co-tenant whom she alleged had snatched her boyfriend.
He further alleged that anytime his wife attended a party, she would take too much alcohol and end up misbehaving and falling inside drainages on her way home and these have been a source of embarrassment to him.
He told the court that their marriage had produced six children and pleaded with the court to dissolve the union because he can’t remain married to a wife who can’t take care of her family.
In her defence, the wife, Ibironke, made no effort at denying or confirming the allegations, but told the court that she was no more interested in the relationship because her husband doesn’t take care of the home.
She however pleaded with the court to grant her custody of the children.
The court ordered the parties to live in peace and adjourned the case till October 7.
