UNBELIVABLE:For Insulting Allah,Zamfara Residents Set Police Station Ablaze

Some Muslim fanatics are taking the sensitivity to their religion too far. According to reports reaching Chukwudi Iwuchukwu Blog,Residents of Nasarawa Burkullu in Bukkuyum local government area of Zamfara State on Sunday took the law into their hands, setting a police station in the area ablaze following alleged insulting remark against Prophet Muhammad by a middle aged man now at large.

According to my source in Nasara Burkullu, which is 89 kilometres away from Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, the incident occured during a disagreement between a Muslim and an indigene of the community.

The source told Chukwudi Iwuchukwu Blog that the accused, having realized the danger he was in following the remark, ran to the police station and take refuge before the residents cordoned off the station, demanding that the police hand him over to them.

As a result of the police officers’ refusal to release the suspect, they set the station ablaze, including the police vehicles and patrol vans there.
Another source, Amadu Nasarawa, said that despite the mob action, the armed mobile police officers managed to escape with the suspect, which further provoked the mob.
Consequently, security operatives have cordoned off the entire town since Sunday.
In nearby Gummi local government area, traders where denied access on Sunday, their market day, according to a source, Abdullahi Maidamma.

Dozens turned back in fear of being molested by the security agents.
Zamfara State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawal Abdullahi, declined comment when contacted, adding that he was on his way to the incident scene and therefore could not comment.

Bukkuyum local government area has been under fire since last week after three different attacks that led to the killing of the village head and four others in Buzuzu village of the council area
