Naked swimmers attempt to break World skinny dipping record

Naked swimmers attempt to break skinny dipping record

Hundreds of naked people have braved the chilly waters of the North Sea in an attempt to break the world skinny dipping record.

The participants climbed into the water at Druridge Bay, Northumberland, this morning and were hoping to beat the record of 800 skinny dippers that was set earlier this year in Florida.

Unfortunately their bravery was not rewarded as only 300 turned up for the North East Skinny Dip, which began at around 5.30am.

Despite this, organiser Jax Higginson said the event was a success.
‘It went really well, it is in its third year and there were more people here than there ever has been.

‘It was more about having fun and taking a risk and celebrating nature than breaking the record, we were realistic.’

She hoped the mass skinny dip would raise thousands of pounds for mental health charity Mind and the National Trust.
