Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso of Kano State, a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, February 13, 2015 surprised many when he honoured the Minister of Agriculture, Akin Adesina of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by naming a 100-hectare irrigation farm after him in recognition for his contribution to the welfare of farmers in the state.
Speaking at the commissioning of the project, Adesina appreciated the Governor Kwakwanso for naming the farm after him, urging irrigation farmers in the state to get organised so as to benefit from the N26 Billion Dry Season Scheme Fund from the Federal Government.
Adesina also stated his happiness over the level of work done on the site which is tended to by about 300 farmers, adding that the farm will not just boost food production in Kano State, but also in the country, as well as provide employment for thousands of youths especially those from Kabo and Gwarzo Local Government Areas.
