Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu has put smiles on the faces of four children by sponsoring their heart surgeries in India through his Kanu Heart Foundation.

Kanu has through his foundation brought succor to many families for a number of years, by fully undertaking to sponsor the treatment of children with heart defects.

He recently announced that his foundation has sent a fresh batch of four more children for treatment in India, and called for prayers of a successful surgery on behalf of the kids.

"We send four people to India as a Christmas gift from Kanu Heart Foundation, please let everyone pray for them for successful operation. They left on 26th December," Kanu announced via his Twitter Handle

Now 37-years-old, Kanu's career almost came to an abrupt end in 1996 when he was diagnosed with a serious heart defect immediately after helping Nigeria win an Olympic gold medal in Atlanta.
