John Obi Mikel could end his nine-year association with Chelsea in the summer, with the defensive midfielder confirming that Real Madrid are testing the waters regarding a move for him when the transfer window reopens.
 
The Nigeria international has announced that he will make a decision whether or not to severe ties with Chelsea at the end of this season.

Nigeria's military has published some pictures of the people it says it has rescued from Boko Haram as it battles with the militant group in the Sambisa Forest in the north-east of the country.

It gives very few details about who is pictured but says that nearly 300 women and children living "under very severe and inhuman conditions" have been freed in the last few days.

Maj Gen Chris Olukolade has said that the operation against Boko Haram will continue and there will be "no sanctuary for them".

Urhobo Gbagbako, an Urhobo militant group Wednesday, April 29, 2015, claimed responsibility for the explosion of two major trunk lines belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, located on the boundaries of Afiesere and Ekredjebo communities and Otedo and Edjovwe communities both in Ughelli North and Ughelli South Local Government Areas of Delta State.


The group speaking through their spokesperson Priest Omodjuvwu said that the explosions were in protest to the ‘traitors’ the NPDC had continually sent to the Urhobo communities in a bid to manipulate their unsuspecting and once peaceful communities.

Army Confirms Rescue of About 300 Women, Girls From Sambisa Forest: Chibok Girls Not Among







Nigerian troops have rescued 200 girls from Sambisa forest, the notorious hideout of the insurgent group, Boko Haram, the defence headquarters said Tuesday.

The girls were found Tuesday afternoon alongside 93 women who were also rescued, the military said.

The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has donated his salaries to the less privileged members of the society. Disclosing this in Awka at the weekend, Governor Obiano pointed out that he had sent a written instruction to his Principal Secretary, Mr. Willie Nwokoye to implement his wish with immediate effect.

The governor’s directive followed his long practice of philanthropy and public spiritedness which had informed his earlier decision to donate his salaries to the churches since he took his oath of office on March 17, 2014.

The incumbent Governor of Imo State and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Rochas Okorocha, has been declared the winner of the Imo State Governorship election, securing a second term in office.

Governor Rochas Okorochas was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the supplementary election of Saturday.

The re-run was between Governor Okorocha and Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Governor Okorocha polled 416,996 votes while Mr Ihedioha got 320,705 votes.

After the election was declared inconclusive on April 12 by INEC, the incumbent Governor expressed optimism that he would come out victorious in the election.

He also noted that the congregation numbers at the Aso Villa Chapel has dwindled. The president stated this at the 5th presidential prayer breakfast which held yesterday at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

In his words, Jonathan said, “Today (yesterday), I expected a very low turn-out because in most cases, when a government is going, people reduce. You will notice that even the Aso Villa Chapel, the number of people that will be coming become less and less. But when I came in, I noticed that this whole hall is filled up. So, I’ve to sincerely thank all of you. We’re all here because we believe in the power of prayers in nation building. REPORT: Speculations Mount Over Whereabouts Of Boko Haram Leader Shekau



With peace and quiet from the usually vociferous Abubakar Shekau, supreme head of the Boko Haram in recent times, there are speculations within the security circles that the group may have been so disarrayed that it no longer has the luxury of issuing threats.

A military source told PRNigeria that since the declaration of the final push against the insurgents in the middle of February, and directive to clear all terrorists’ camps before May 29 handover date, the Nigerian troops have been on the lookout for Shekau and other commanders of Boko Haram.

FRSC returns Kaduna crash victim’s N.4m to family


The Sabon Tasha Unit of the Kaduna Sector Command, Federal Road Safety Corps, on Thursday returned N419,290 to the family of Mufutau Salami, who died in an auto crash in the state.


While calling on motorists to avoid dangerous driving, the Unit Commander, Muhammadu Ogoshi, presented the said money to the family of the deceased at the Mararaban Rido area of Chikun Local Government Area of the state.


Ogoshi said it was the culture of the corps to return anything found with accident victims to his or her family, adding that the commission would not not tamper with accident victims’ property.

South Africa Shuts It's Embassy In Nigeria For Fear Of Retaliation








Following protests by Nigerians held outside the consulate and at the South African High Commission in Abuja against the Xenophobic attacks on foreigners in South Africa, the country on Wednesday announced the closure of its consulate in Lagos.




 South African Consul-General in Nigeria, Sam Monaisa, said this in a statement to the South African Business Forum that the closure would remain until Thursday.

A convicted Nigerian fraudster stole £17,000 from the City firm where she worked after she started embezzling money on her second day in the job.

Gabrielle Yinka Saunders, 32, used company credit cards to pay for her £10,000 wedding, as well as a £5,000 honeymoon in the Seychelles. She was arrested at Heathrow when she returned from the honeymoon - but now she has been spared jail even though a court heard that she had been convicted of fraud twice previously.

The teenager who is an indigene of Ogbomoso in Oyo State, but whose parents live in Minna, Niger State, has told Sunday Tribune how she had sex with a snake in her dream for four years and eventually got pregnant without any physical relationship with any man.

Not only that, Kehinde was delivered of a baby boy in the early hours of March 28, 2015. The baby, however, was not brought strangeness with it as it had two teeth protruding from the gum in its lower jaw. It however died on Sunday, March 29 without any ill health pinned to it.

President Spokesman Reuben Abati Describes The Punch newspaper Cover Story As “Mischievous, False And Wrongheaded”

The presidency has debunked the front-page story of the Sunday Punch of April 19 alleging that the Pres. Jonathan spent a whopping N2 trillion on the 2015 General elections, and that a Committee of Five has been set up by President Jonathan to conduct an audit of how the funds were disbursed by party members and state officials.

In an interview with state house correspondents, the president’s spokesman, Reuben Abati, described the report as “mischievous, false and embarrassing.”

He died this morning  at the age of 75. 

Uche Chukwumerije was elected a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in April 2003.
