The team constituted by Buhari met for the first time with the Federal Government transition committee on Monday night.
It was gathered that those at the meeting on the side of Major-General Buhari included former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe; owner of Bulletin Construction, Alhaji Isa Funtua; former national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kawu Baraje; former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva and a member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
It was learnt that the inaugural meeting did not go smoothly, as the Buhari team was said to have questioned some of the presentations made by the Federal Government team led by Senator Anyim.
A source close to the meeting told the Nigerian Tribune that the Federal Government’s team members were uncomfortable with comments made by some members of the Buhari team.
A source said one of the Buhari team members was practically threatening and insulting members of the Federal Government committee, alleging incompetence on some issues.
“A top member of the Federal Government’s team was so pissed off after the inaugural meeting. He told his close associates that he has never been humiliated the way he felt as the team was just insulting him,” the source disclosed.
Although Buhari was yet to make public the list of his transition committee members, a source said the team, which met with the Anyim-led committee on Monday, was part of the larger team being put together by the president-elect.
A source in the party said leaders were not expecting Buhari to make public the list of the transition committee members before the party leaders’ meeting slated for today.
