National Former PDP Chairman, Ogbulafor in Surprise Visit to APC National Secretariat

The former National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, may have initiated moves towards joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP chieftain on Friday met with the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun behind closed doors at the national secretariat of the party.

Ogbulafor sneaked into the party Secretariat at about 1pm but did not escape the prying eyes of journalists at the place.

When asked by journalists to explain his meeting with Oyegun, the former PDP chairman ruled out the issue of defection.

"I just came back into town yesterday and I came to congratulate the national chairman of APC for a job well done. I am a Nigerian. APC has produced the president of this country and I have to congratulate him for job well done.

"I have been National Chairman, National Secretary and Minister. I will remain in PDP until it becomes necessary to make a change.

The Deputy National Chairman, (South), Mr. Segun Oni  who also spoke on the mission of Ogbulafor, said there was nothing to suggest that defection was an agenda during the discussion.

" We just saw the former National Chairman of the PDP in your office and we learnt that he had fruitful discussion with you. I saw him, but I think it is a private visit he came for. Don't forget, the National Chairman is his friend and some of us are also his friends," he said.

Though Oni  said he would be happy if the former PDP national chairman joins APC, denied that his visit has anything to do with changing his party.

Of course, we will be , but that is jot the purpose of his visit.

But his presence here will create room for speculations. But he came to visit his friend and to congratulate us. That is the way politics should be played. Even if he were still the National Chairman of PDP and he comes here to congratulate our national chairman and meet some of us his friends, that will be good politics.

"I am looking forward to our friend, the National Chairman of PDP visiting us here to say congratulations. As politicians, we must salvage this process called politics, we must rescue it from charlatans. We must give it a colour of decency, we must give it a colour of maturity. I will expect that even if he does not have time to visit us now, he should send us a letter," he added
