John Obi Mikel could end his nine-year association with Chelsea in the
summer, with the defensive midfielder confirming that Real Madrid are
testing the waters regarding a move for him when the transfer window
reopens.
The Nigeria international has announced that he will make a decision
whether or not to severe ties with Chelsea at the end of this season.
With only four Premier League starts under his belt this season,
everything indicates that manager Jose Mourinho will sanction his
departure from Stamford Bridge if an interested club meets Chelsea's
asking price.
"It's true Real Madrid want Mikel, but he hasn't said yes or no to
them," an intermediary that handles the affairs of Mikel confided to
SL10.ng.
"After the season, he'll consider all his options and decide which is best for him."
It is thought that Sami Khedira's departure from the Santiago Bernabéu
at the end of this season is a foregone conclusion, and Los Blancos
chiefs have targeted Obi Mikel as his replacement.
Mikel would follow in the footsteps of Spurs' Emmanuel Adebayor as the
players of Nigerian descent to represent Los Galacticos if the transfer
materializes.
