Dear Tonto Dikeh, you cannot drop 1 song in 10 months and expect to blow. By ‘Dayo Showemimo...

Exactly 10 months ago when D’banj announced the signing of Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh to DB records as the first lady of the record label, we all thought it’d be the beginning of a much expected transformation in the music career of the sultry actress.

Well, sadly it’s not so, because after 10 months, there’s been relatively no change, improvement or growth in her music career. Since then, she’s released only one song, ‘Sugar Rush’ she’s not signed any endorsement deal or even performed at any concert since then.

So it begs the question: what exactly is DB records doing to help Tonto Dikeh’s career. In her entire music career, she has released a total of 6 songs. Her career in music began when she attempted to break the internet on October 17, 2012 with the release of two songs at once titled ‘Itz Over’ and ‘Hi’ amidst boos and jeers.

Relentless in her bid to make her voice heard, she teamed up with Terry G to drop ‘Crazically Fit’ on December 3, 2012. Tonto Dikeh continued with ‘Jeje’ on February 23, 2013 before she released ‘Shebah’ featuring Solid Star on June 9, 2013. In 2014, after announcing a record deal with D’banj’s DB records, her official 6th song and debut single under DB records, ‘Sugar Rush’ was released on June 27, 2014. Make no mistake,

Tonto is still thriving as one of the most sought after actresses in Nollywood, It’s not like she’s capable of giving us any GOOD music, but who didn’t love the drama that came with her songs?

If Tonto Dikeh wants to play at the highest level of the game, then she needs to study close competition like Seyi Shay, Yemi Alade, Cynthia Morgan and others to see how consistent and how hard they go. 1 song in 10 months just won’t work. Even a heavily pregnant Tiwa Savage still keeps her buzz up with collabos and live performances....
