Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare who won gold in the women’s 100m race at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, has made Nigeria proud again.

The 25-year-old won gold a few minutes ago in the women’s 200m final race in 22.25 seconds.

The statement outlines a weeklong series of events as part of the funeral for the late minister who died in a hospital in India on June 7, 2014 after a two-year battle with cancer.

Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, renown Islamic Scholar who last week survived a suicide attack on his motorcade in Kaduna, has advised President Jonathan to take steps to stop “some desperate politicians” who want to use religion to win 2015 election at all costs.

Sheikh Dahiru gave the advice in a special audio message emailed to newsmen from Mecca where he usually travels to at the end of every Ramadan fast.

The Sheikh said there are diehards among both Muslims and Christians who are desperate to ensure that their own man wins the election.

It turns out that the Mi-35 helicopter owned by the Nigerian airforce which the Nigerian Defence authorities claimed was on a training mission that crashed last week was actually brought down by the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

Sources in Bama, Borno State say the helicopter was shot down and the crash was not “due to technical fault” as claimed by the director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade.

A villager who spoke to NewswireNgr on condition of anonymity said ” Everyone in our village knew the plane was shot down by Boko Haram, when we heard in the news that the jet was faulty, we knew the Military officials lied to Nigerians again”

A 35-year-old man, Yinka Offehin, is battling for his life at a private hospital in Lagos State after his scrotum was cut by the children of his landlady.

Punch Metro reported that The Edo State indigene, who resides on Popoola Street, off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, was said to have been attacked while sleeping in his room with his family members.

His wife, Bisi, who was with him when the incident happened, identified the assailants as Solomon and Damilola, the children of the landlady.

In reaction to reports over an alleged N100 million given to parents of the abducted Chibok girls by President Goodluck Jonathan, the Kibaku Area Development Association (KADA) has labelled the claims to be completely false.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the association said that its main objective was/is to secure the release of the remaining 219 abducted girls.

“It is with deep sadness that we are addressing you today to state that the claim is completely false, malicious and unfounded. It is truly heartbreaking to hear about the numerous individuals that have passed away from the deadly Ebola Virus.

One of the latest casualties of the virus  is a 4-month-old baby boy called Faya, who died in Gueckadou, South East Guinea, BBC reports.

Faya is said to have caught the virus from his mother, who died a few weeks ago.

A new born baby was found laying dead in a dustbin at Hilltop Gate adjacent St Peters Chapel UNN this morning July 30th.

No one around the area saw who dropped the baby. The area is mainly occupied by students from the university (UNN) so many believe that it could only have been a female student.

Jim Iyke Should Be Quarantined’ – Nigerians Speak After Actor Flees Liberia Over Ebola Scare


A Nigerian actor has sparked outrage after posting an image of himself wearing an Ebola mask while sitting in a first class airport lounge as he flees Liberia.

'Nollywood' star Jim Iyke posted a message on his Instagram page saying he had cut short a business trip to Monrovia in Liberia -  where at least 600 people have already died from the disease.

The image of Iyke sitting on green leather-clad seats in the airport's luxury first class lounge while wearing an expensive designer watch and sunglasses was accompanied with the caption: 'Not ashamed to admit this scares the Jesus outta me #Ebola.'

Asari Dokubo Blasts Jonathan for Placing Value on General Buhari’s Life






Leader of Niger-Delta Peoples Volunteers Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid? Dokubo-Asari has lashed out at President Goodluck Jonathan for allegedly placing more value on the life of former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) than other Nigerians.

While describing such comment from the president as uncalled for, the ex-militant leader also denied insinuations that he paid the mastermind of the blast N5m to kill Buhari.

Dokubo, who denied working  for President Jonathan also said  that the insinuation was meant to tarnish his image as a way of shutting him out of 2015 electioneering process.

Fight time – Parents Of Chibok Girls Allege Foul Play Over N100 Million Largesse from the President





The sum of N100 million, allegedly given to parents of the abducted Chibok girls, has led to a serious disagreement within the Chibok community.

It was reported that the President had on July 22nd, released the funds to leaders of the Chibok community in Abuja for onward passage to parents of the kidnapped schoolgirls. But many of the supposed recipients are now crying foul play.

One of the male parents, was quoted to have said; “I got only N200,000 out of the said N100million allegedly received by our leaders in Abuja. Some of us got N300,000 and some less than that”.
