18 out of 24 members of Ebonyi state House of Assembly on Monday
impeached the Speaker of the
House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Nwazunku
admist tight security . He was impeached over allegations of gross misconduct, incompetence and corruption.
According to reports, the members of the House re-instated three members who were on suspension before moving to impeach the Speaker.
Nwanzunku was impeached following a motion moved by Hon Chris Usulor,
representing Ezza South constituency and second by the Minority Leader,
Hon. Enyi C. Enyi (Ezza North West).
He was replaced with Mrs Helen Nwobashi as the new Speaker. The motion
for her election as the new Speaker was moved by Hon. Eni Uduma Chima
(Afikpo South West) and seconded by Hon. Frank Onwe (Ohaukwu North).
