Ondo State Government Assures Nigerians That The Strange Disease That Hit The State Is Not Ebola (Graphic Photos)

Ondo State Government has deployed health personnel and necessary Equipment to Ode Irele, a riverine community in Ondo South Senatorial district, following the outbreak of a “strange disease” that has killed 12 persons.

The state Health Commissioner, Dr Dayo Adeyanju who made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in Akure on Thursday, said preliminary investigations show that the yet to be known disease is not Ebola as it does not manifest any of its symptoms, but attacks the central nervous of the victims.


He said government has speedily deployed officials who took samples from victims, which has been sent to Lagos for laboratory analysis to help know the source and name of the disease.

Adeyanju warned against spreading false information on the social media, said government is on top the situation, and advised people in the council area to report all strange illness to the nearest facilities.





He assured that government is also doing it's best to curtain the disease from further spreading out of the town while those infected have been quarantined.

The health commissioner also advised people to inform the government in order to get proper procedures for burying the corpse at this period, which he emphasised, would help contain further spread of the disease.
