Sometimes, our realities remind us of the pain of others. My reality as a mother is that I get to see my daughter every day, while the reality of the mothers of the kidnapped 234 Chibok girls is that they don’t even know where their daughters are.
I looked at my daughter and tears came to my eyes that some mothers have the privileges of seeing their kids on a daily basis while the mothers of the kidnapped girls can only console themselves with memories.
All well-meaning Nigerians must come together and help these mothers who have been in pain for more than two weeks and make the memory a reality — the reality of seeing their children again.

A 52-year-old woman in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, Imo State, Mrs. Tina Iwuji, is currently gnashing her teeth in the custody of the Imo State Police Command after she allegedly sold her son's 2 week old baby.
The two-week-old baby girl was sold for the sum of N350,000 to another woman, Bernadine Abara, who claimed to be in need of a girl to complement her three sons.
The whole sordid affair began when Iwuji’s son, Emeka, who resides in Lagos impregnated the
mother of the baby, Esther Godwin, a native of Ndoki, Delta State and then sent her to be with his mother in Mbaise. Both Emeka and Esther never disclosed to the woman that her son was responsible for the pregnancy.

29-year-old man Kills Daughter over Plate of Rice (Photo)

The police in Rivers State have arrested a 29-year-old man, Kingsley Ekerete, who killed his seven-year-old daughter over a plate of boiled rice in Obimama, Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Nigerian Tribune reports that Kingsley Ekerete, 29, a commercial driver on the fateful day of April 12, 2014, returned home like every other day at 1900hrs, already famished. He hurried down to the pot of rice he had prepared before leaving for work only to find that his also hungry daughter, Favour, had helped herself to the meal he had reserved for himself.
Kingsley’s animal instincts became awakened and what followed were fits of mad rage as the red-eyed father unleashed his beastly tendencies on his seven-year-old daughter.

National Hospital Sacks 2 Nurses For Wearing Hijab To Work

TWO female nurses of National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi Lagos (NOHIL) have been sacked for wearing hijab while on duty.

The nurses Mrs Fasilat Olayinka Lawal and
Miss Sekinat Sanusi, relied on the prescription of their regulatory
body, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria which says nurses
should either wear nurse cap or shoulder lenght hijab as contained in a
circular dated February 11, 2002 (reference number
N&MCN/CMF/721/1/3).
The circular which was signed by P. N.
Ndatsu, Secretary General/Registrar was said to have been sent to all
Directors of Nursing and their deputies, chief Medical Directors, chief
Executives, and Principals.
Vanguard gathered
that Muslims nurses in other government and teaching hospitals in other
states wear shoulder lenght hijab. Some of them include Kwara, Osun,
Oyo in the South West and most states in the north of the country.

Pastor Vomits Live Snake During Deliverance

A Ghanaian
pastor was alleged to have vomited a live snake at the shrine of a
fetish priest leaving residents of the area stunned.
According to
reports, the pastor (name withheld) who is known for performing miracles
had established a number of churches with thousands of congregants in
Ghana and abroad.
It was
gathered that the pastor had been performing the miracles and rendering
other pastoral services with a snake inside his belly – which is
purported to be the source of his spiritual powers. Don’t ask how
possible that is, that beats us too but the Daily Guide appears to
believe it.

Wake the average unemployed graduate from sleep and ask for his dream place of work. In a flash, he would tell you a bank, or the oil sector, or a federal institution or a telecommunication company. He would never tell you he prays to work in the unregulated and scorned informal sector. You wont blame him? All the years he sacrificed to get an education was to get a ‘befitting’ job. So when you find a graduate who obtained a bank job but voluntarily turns in his resignation to embrace another Job, you want to know what went wrong. When you find that the job he willingly embraced is frying and selling akara (bean-cakes),
you want to know what really really went wrong!

The graduate
His name is
Ayowale Fatoki, a graduate of Mathematics from the University of Agriculture,
Abeokuta. He was once a Client Officer in a micro-finance bank with a take-home
pay of N40,000 per month, besides the commission on every loan-portfolio he
sold. One day, he just stopped ‘feeling’ his job and decided to go out on his
own. He could have tried clothes-retail, like he did while in school, but he
needed a lot of capital if he was going to operate at a decently competitive
level.
He kept thinking of what to do until a lady lawyer mentioned to him that
she sold akara, chips and the like to
train herself in school. That was his eureka moment. He went home and
informed his parents about the idea of running a business of frying and selling
akara and as expected, they were not
excited about it. It wasn’t that they didn’t understand the value of
self-employment but they just wished he had picked a classier job. What they
didn’t know was that he was going to employ his creativity to dignify an
otherwise undignified job.

Well-meaning Nigerians including celebrities have taken to the streets of Lagos to protest the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State.
The protest which is now trending on Twitter with the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls has drawn attention worldwide and is now the a major national issue in the country.
