Fellow Nigerians,

I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the March 28 General Elections. I promised the country free and fair elections. I have kept my word. I have also expanded the space for Nigerians to participate in the democratic process. That is one legacy I will like to see endure.

Although some people have expressed mixed feelings about the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I urge those who may feel aggrieved to follow due process based on our constitution and our electoral laws, in seeking redress.

President Good Luck Jonathan Arrives Bayelsa ahead of tomorrow's election(Photos)

There was tight security in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area in Bayelsa State on Friday as President Goodluck Jonathan arrived his hometown.

The president will cast his vote at a polling unit near his country home.

Prior to his arrival, two Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) were seen on the Otuoke Road, one in front of the president’s house.

The other was parked in front of Magels Resort, a hotel close to UBA, the only bank in Otuoke.
Earlier, a helicopter was seen hovering around the town, apparently on security surveillance.
Soldiers and policemen were also seen on the main road, as well as plain-clothes officers who guarded the president’s house.

There were sign posts directing motorists to “keep moving,” while police officers shouted at drivers of vehicles which stopped within the vicinity of the president’s home to leave.

The president arrived by 3pm in company of Governor Seriake Dickson and other aides.

For “Supporting Jonathan”, Living Faith Church In Kaduna Razed Down

 A branch of the Living Faith Church, popularly called the Winners Chapel, in Giwa, headquarters of Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been set ablaze.

The church, founded by Bishop David Oyedepo, was reportedly set ablaze by two unidentified arsonists according to DailyPost reports.

The burning of the church came a few months after the reported endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by Oyedepo.

Igbo President will help heal civil war wounds – Gowon

The man who disguised himself as a lady dressed in Hijab was nabbed by troops on Saturday as he made for the market.

15-Year Old Fish Seller Killed In Lagos Robbery Buried

 

Sarah Ibikunle, the 15-year old fish seller who died in the March 12 Lagos robbery in Lekki has been buried. Sarah was buried on Monday, 23^rd, 2015 at Ikoyi cemetery.

It was also learnt that the mortuary in Yaba, where the girl’s corpse was deposited, had earlier asked for a sum of N100,000 for the embalm and burial arrangements, but later changed their minds and gave the corpse to her relations without collecting a penny.

Residents of Shodipo Estate, Agbara, Ogun state had their eyes on stalks Friday morning as they trooped to watch a healthy and beautiful baby girl brought
to life by a female lunatic.


The incidence seemed bizarre to some who were amazed that a beautiful healthy baby was born by a lunatic while others believed it was simply a miracle from God.

It was gathered from eyewitnesses that she had allegedly fled to Shodipo for refuge after having four of her babies abducted by unidentified people.

Though it is not known when or where she put to bed, some residents speculated that it must have been at midnight or early hours of Friday due to the state of the woman and baby.

In his account, Comrade Femi Okeowo, a resident who rescued the the baby girl from her insane mother said: “I was on my way to school when I saw the mad woman with the baby. Some residents were scared of taking the baby from the mother but thank God for some men in the vicinity who intervened that the child be taken from her for the fear of being kidnapped.

“I asked her to hand over the baby to me that I wasn’t going to kidnap her and she did without hesitating. I collected the child and a female resident tidied her up,” he stated.

He however discarded the views of eyewitnesses that she could be feigning insanity. “Though she speaks coherently at times but merely observing her appearance, it is so glaring that she is insane.

From my own point of view, she is abnormal because her hair is very unkept. It is the work of God and it is mysterious as well for a mad woman to trek all the way from Lome and give birth in Agbara in Ogun state”, he claimed.

Another resident, Mrs Achibong described the act as ‘wonderful’. “It is only God that can do this, that is why I call her “Gift of God”. The mother said it is only me that can give her a name, so i gave her the name: Gift of God,” she said.

“We dont actually know where she put to bed but she said she cut the placenta on her way down and threw it away.”

However, some eyewitnesses believe that the presence of the mad woman in the community will bring good luck to traders.

As at press time, the woman and her baby were taken away by a Rescue Operation team from Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos state.

Police parades notorious baby factory owner in Abia

The Abia state police command has paraded a notorious baby factory owner based at Umunkpeyi in Isiala Ngwa South council area of the state who has been evading arrest by various security outfits in the state.

The baby factory owner who is known as Mma Achumba has been under surveillance from the police, SSS, army and Civil Defence was arrested in Akwa Ibom state and brought to the state capital.

Early last year, Mma who has been in the business for years with the name Mma maternity home relocated her operational base from Umunkpeyi down to a remote area in Olokoro, where the police raided and demolished the operational base.

The relocation of her former operational base from Umunkpeyi to Olokoro was as a result of constant raids on her maternity home where it was believed that teenage pregnant girls were housed until they are delivered.

Parading the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police (CP) Habila Joshak said that one Ogechi Kalu female of Ivoyi Akaeze in Ivo council area of Ebonyi state reported that one Uchenna John and Ngozi Onyekachi conspired and sold her six months old son, Chisom Eze to Mma.
Joshak said that it was alleged that the baby was sold for the sum of N150, 000 and that the child was recovered at Umunkpeyi from an old woman, while Mma was arrested in Akwa Ibom state.

The CP noted that the suspect has been under the searchlight of all the security agencies in the state and has been in the child trafficking business in the state for years, adding that she has been
evading arrest for years.

31 Kuje Prisoners Score 67 Distinctions, 94 Credits In Nov/Dec WAEC

Thirty-one inmates at the Kuje Prisons, Abuja have jointly scored a cumulative 67 distinctions and 94 credits in the 2014 November/December West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The inmates were part of the 38 inmates who sat for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) organised examination, sponsored by NUGA BEST, a non-governmental organisation, Punch reports.

March 28 Presidential Poll: Survey Rates Jonathan Ahead of Buhari

An independent national opinion poll carried out around the country by a United Kingdom-based firm Kevin, Charlyn and Kimberly has put President Goodluck Jonathan ahead his All Progressive Congress (APC)'s presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), with a margin of 13 percent.

The aggregate analysis showed 77 percent for Dr. Jonathan while Buhari scored 27 percent from over 30,000 respondents interviewed in the survey.

6000 Nigerian Pastors Endorse Buhari

6,000 pastors in the Southwest has endorsed Major General Muhammadu Buhari as president in the forthcoming elections, while rejecting President Goodluck Jonathan.

PM News reports that the pastors were acting by divine intervention from God who told them that Buhari would be the next president of Nigeria, pointing out that they were not bribed by anybody to support Buhari, .

2015 Election: Jega Ignored My Request For A Meeting – CAN President Ayo Oritsejafor

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor Wednesday expressed bitterness over how the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega refused to hold a meeting with him.

Oritsejafor, who said the botched meeting, would have held earlier this year, hinted at the probability of Jega ignoring his request based on what some of the close associates of the electoral umpire must have told him.

The Commissioner of the Rivers State Police Command, Dan Bature has said that Governor Chibuike Amaechi has being raising false alarm against the Command because he refused to bow to pressure to release hardened criminals involved in heinous cases of murder, deadly cult activities, unlawful possession of firearms, kidnappings and sundry acts of lawlessness that ordinarily would have been charged to court but for the industrial action of the Rivers state judiciary.

In a strongly worded press statement signed by the CP Dan Bature, he said: “It is strongly believed that the vituperations are frustrating signs of the Government’s inability to pressure the Command to release hardened criminals involved heinous cases of murder, deadly cult activities, unlawful firearms possession, kidnappings and sundry acts of lawlessness that ordinarily would have been charged to court but for the industrial action of the Rivers State Judiciary”.

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has revealed that 2,123 policemen provided security for President Goodluck Jonathan while armed robbers raided a bank in Lekki, Lagos last week.
