Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, called on women in the country to continue to preach peace and work for unity, commending those who work to improve the lives of their fellow females.
Mrs. Osinbajo made the comments in Owerri, Imo State, while addressing women who had gathered in their thousands to witness the commissioning of houses and a training center built by Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, the wife of the Imo State governor, for needy widows as part of the activities lined up for this year women August meeting in Imo state.
Mrs. Osinbajo brought messages of good tiding from the president’s wife, who she said was sick.
At the event were wives of the governors of Edo State, Lara Oshiomole; Enugu State, Monica Ugwuanyi; Nassarawa State, Pauline Amakura; Abia State, Nkechi Ikpeazu; and the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Barr. Kelechi Ugwu. The Deputy Governor of the state, Prince Eze Madumere, was also in attendance.
Mrs. Osinbajo told the crowd that the time has come for women in Nigeria to rise and build strong households. She charged the women of Imo State to remain united, commending the Imo State governor’s wife, Mrs. Okorocha, for changing the lives of less fortunate women through philanthropic work that uplifts downtrodden women.
Mrs. Okorocha spoke earlier, saying that the value of every office depends on how much they dedicate it to serving the people.
Mrs. Okorocha also said that her position in society would be meaningless if she does not use it to improve lives, hence her pet project christened “She Needs A Roof Project,” which she said she had used to build homes for widows.
