A woman who accidentally added a stranger as a friend on Facebook has ended up falling in love and marrying him.

Patsy Sutton, 60, added John Neeley thinking he was her former classmate from decades before.

But 61-year-old John just happened to be a stranger with the same name who actually went to a school that coincidentally had the same name - only 400 miles away.

Despite the mix-up, the pair began to exchange messages.

As the conversation developed, so did their relationship, first chatting over the phone and then meeting in person and then leading to the pair walking down the aisle

.Patsy, from Georgia, US, had two failed marriages and had been dating online but never found anyone.

After speaking online for weeks, Patsy and John exchanged phone numbers.

The pair began to speak every day, sometimes staying up until the early hours of the morning talking.

“John was always such a gentleman,” Patsy said. “He’d like and comment on my posts and tell me I was beautiful.

“We began to talk more and more. My grandson even told me to ask John on a date as he noticed we were always messaging.

“I wasn’t nervous at all the first time I spoke to him, we’d become such good friends that we could talk about anything,” she said.

In November 2010, they met in person for the first time when he went to visit her in Jackson, Mississippi, where she lived at the time.

“When I first saw John in person we couldn’t stop hugging and kissing,” she said.

“People were walking and driving by but we just stood there and looked at each other for what seemed like hours.

“I cried when he had to leave.”

A month later, he returned for Christmas, bringing with him a pet puppy for her children – and a marriage proposal for her.

“I was floored when he asked me to marry him, it was so romantic,” she said.

Patsy has now moved 400 miles from Mississippi to live with him in Georgia.

“Now, John and I happily married and living with our 12 dogs. We have a wonderful life together.

"He is everything I ever prayed for – and I owe it all to an accidental Facebook add," she said.
