Oyakhilomes divorce: Members Pray For God’s Intervention

Anita and Chris Oyakhilome

As the divorce scandal between Pastors Chris and Anita Oyakhilome gets messier, news came that all the branches of the Christ Embassy in the world have been charged to pray so that “God will wade off this present evil away” from the church.

According to two members of the church of the Ogba and Ikeja branches, Michael and Olakunle, their Zonal Pastor, Yinka Okunnusi, during the last Sunday service, charged them to pray.

Okunnusi’s words: “Let everyone of us pray for our pastor and his wife that God should intervene in this present crisis they are going through.”

Michael said: “We sensed two weeks ago that something was wrong. Last two weeks Sunday, Anita was supposed to make the yearly youth LoveWorld awards via projector, but it was a strange lady, who introduced herself as Ose Oyakhilome, who presented the awards. I had never seen her before that day.”

On Saturday, news broke that Anita Oyakhilome has filed for divorce in a London court.

The following day, the church deleted her pictures and other information pertaining to her from their website.

On Monday, a church member claimed that the couple has been apart for close to 15 years.

Speaking from the altar, Okunnusi confirmed the ongoing divorce case having been informed by the Lagos Zonal Head, Pastor L. Lanre.

The prayer went on for 15 minutes before the close of the Sunday service.

“We’re not the only branch praying against this. Pray that God should intervene,” urged Okunnusi.

The divorce case was filed on April 9, 2014 at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, UK by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors on Anita Oyakhilome’s behalf.

Chris and Anita have two teenage daughters – Sharon and Charlyn.
