A 38-year-old man, Gbenga Olajiga, who allegedly broke his neighbour’s window to catch a glimpse of her taking her bath, on Monday appeared in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Olajiga is facing a two-count charge of malicious damage and possession of Indian hemp.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Francesca Okere, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 8 at about 11 p.m. at Lagasa Street, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

She alleged that the accused claimed that he fell in love with his neighbour, who is a married woman.

“On the said day, the complainant was taking her bath and the accused could not hold the temptation anymore; he took a bamboo stick and broke the window to catch a better view of her.

“Upon his arrest, the accused was also found to be in possession of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp,” she said.

Okere said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 348 and 327 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following the plea, the Magistrate, Mrs A.T. Omoyele, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000, with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till March 3 for mention.
