Malawian Man Starved of Sex Resorts To Suicide

President Joyce Banda Of Malawi

When the wife to 32-year-old, Haswel Mulonga, denied her husband to exercise his conjugal rights Thursday afternoon, she wasn't to know that the gesture would nearly leave her a widow.

Malawi News Agency (Mana) established that on Thursday afternoon, Mulonga, a brick-layer who lives with his wife and three children in Dubai, Area 49, Lilongwe, requested to have sex with his wife but the latter refused saying they would do it later in the evening.

According to sources, Mulonga's wife underestimated the anger her objection had caused in her husband and she went away to draw water only to find her husband hanging in the house upon her return.

"The wife called for help and people rushed to the scene where they rescued Mulonga because he had not completely run out of air," explained the source.

Kanengo Police spokesperson, Esther Mkwanda confirmed the development and that the police had rushed to the scene where they apprehended him.

"He is in custody and upon interrogation, he admitted that he had wanted to take away his life because his wife had denied him sex," explained Mkwanda.

She added that when the neighbours had rescued him, he had gone berserk and that, brandishing a panga, he had began to chase people and destroy property.

Mulonga hails from Kumfunda Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kachere, Dedza, according to Mkwanda, and he is charged with attempting to terminate his life, contrary to Section 229 of the Penal Code.
