Strange Human Like Goat Turns Ekiti VIllage To Mecca[Photos]
You May Have probably read that a goat delivered a strange creature at Ekiti State. However this strange and bizarre creature have turned the Ekiti village where the incident occurred to a Mecca of all sorts.

The road to the farmstead is hardly noticeable from the main road through sleepy Ogotun-Ekiti community in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The road even appears to lead to nowhere, considering its quality and size. But the guide said it was the way to Olorioko, one of the 25 or so farmsteads they said Ogotun-Ekiti is renowned with.
A few kilometres on the road, a team of Ekiti Peace Corps members, which was obviously coming from the farmstead, advised on the rough, narrow road and explained that Olorioko was lying about five kilometres ahead. They gave a piece of heart-warming news that they saw the object of the mission and even showed the photographs they had taken with their mobile phones.
With the reassurance of the Peace Corps members, the courage to continue the journey grew. The exploration team thus trudged on through the road in search of Olorioko community, where a nanny goat was reported to have been delivered of a kid that bore human features. The guide from Ogotun noted the increased human and vehicular traffic on the road and attributed it to the incident in the community.
On arrival in Olorioko community, said to have the population strength of about 1,500 people, the disposition of the inhabitants confirmed the fact that there had been a stream of visitors to the place all day. And many more people kept trooping in.
Every one of the visitors made straight for the place where the mysterious kid was lying, dead. The bewildered villagers did not hesitate to narrate to their curious visitors how it all came about. They spoke in no particular pattern nor was there a particular spokesman. But those who claimed to be witnesses told journalists that the black goat had fallen into labour the night before.
They asked not to be named in the absence of their chief, the Baale, Gani Adetomi. Chief Adetomi was said to have gone to his farm but those available agreed that the goat had been in labour since Monday night and could not deliver the kid as would an animal under normal circumstances.
They said a man referred to as Pastor Daniel Odedele helped the nanny goat on Tuesday morning when he witnessed its ordeal. Pastor Odedele was said to have been in the farming community on a routine business visit when he saw the goat in labour.
“He watched the goat for a while and observed that what it was about to deliver was not normal. He went to the goat and pulled the foetus from it and people who saw the kid raised the alarm and that created the panic you are seeing here today,” a witness stated.
According to one of the villagers, “it was much bigger when it was delivered. Its human-like head, face and female human genitals were pronounced.” The villagers said that the mysterious ‘kid’ did not bleat or make any other sound. “It lived for only about one and a half hours and had increasingly deflated since it died,” one of them said.
The goat, which suddenly became a victim, stayed back in the vicinity of the crowd and it was held for photographs. The ease with which it was ‘arrested’ proved how exhausted it was following its ordeal.
The community people said the incident would be reported to the Ologotun of Ogotun-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Oyebade and the farmstead would perform some rituals to appease the gods so as to forestall calamity from befalling them as they claimed that the birth was a bad omen. They claimed, however, that the owner of the goat could not be identified.
But a veterinary doctor, who chose to be anonymous, dismissed the villagers’ fears, saying it was “normal deformity of a foetus.” According to him, “it is not uncommon to have such and several factors, including diet and health status of the goat, could be reason for the deformity of the kid.”
Beyond the negative euphoria drawn in the community by the goat and its kid, Mr Saheed Oladepo (a.k.a Akanmu), said it was interesting, the number of people who had set foot on their farmstead on the day, saying “it is unprecedented.”
Oladepo, who claimed to be the chairman of commercial motorcycle riders association in the village, said “we have never seen this kind of crowd in our farmstead before. People came from as far as Ikeji-Arakeji in Osun State, which is about three kilometres away; Ogotun, Ipetu-Ijesa, Ado-Ekiti, Ilawe, Igbara Odo, Aba Ede, Aba Osogbo to watch the ‘baby goat’.”
He said the tourist centre their village had become presented an opportunity for them to appeal to the government to grade their road. “It is so bad and you have seen it. So, please help us tell the government,” he said.
