Police in Ogun State yesterday arrested a 38-year-old man, Adelani
Ayomide, for allegedly being in possession of 18 human skulls. The
suspect was apprehended about 6:48am on the Ado-Odo – Owode Road by
policemen who were on a “stop and search operation.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Muyiwa Adejobi,
confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta. Adejobi, a
Deputy Superintendent of Police, disclosed that the suspect was a native
of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of the state. According to
him, Ayomide was trekking along the road clutching a bag which
contained the 18 human skulls when he was nabbed by policemen attached
to Ado-Odo Division.
He said the suspect had already been transferred to the State
Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta for further
investigation as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna
Okoye.
The PPRO pointed out that the suspect would assist the command in
unmasking others who might be connected with the crime. He assured that
the matter would be diligently prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to
other criminals. |
