Akwa Ibom Government To Build Snow Resort

The Akwa Ibom Government in South-South Nigeria plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SnowValley Europe Limited for the construction of a snow valley resort in the state.

Governor Godswill Akpabio disclosed this when the Chairman of SnowValley Europe Limited, Mr. Thomas Alexander Stewart, paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Office, Uyo, at the weekend. He remarked: “This project is not only essential in Nigeria but also in the entire West Africa. We have to move the country forward to have a vision with this type of project.”

Continuing, he said: “The world is a global village and we need our children to compete with the rest of the world by creating quality facility. That is why you see in Akwa Ibom State, we build projects and we are into massive infrastructural development through road maps, housing schemes, airport, on-going construction of the Ibom International Airport, among others.

“We are happy and interested with the resort project, which we would fast-track it and sign an MOU with the company. The project is a revolutionary project. It is something that would turn around the fortune of sports, which would enable our children to be able to take part in Olympic sports. With this oncoming project into the state, we would fast track the entire completion of our Ibom International Airport, for those who would be coming into the state to partake in the sports training that would take place at the resort.”

Speaking earlier, Mr. Stewart, who had pointed out that the resort is designed to educate children and bring them into the world of sports, stressed that children need to be educated in the different skills of sports and that it is a training vehicle for favourite sports for international athletics. He said that the largest of such resorts in the world is located in Dubai.

Mr. Stewart explained that the resort is not only a local project but also an international project where sport lovers all over the world would like to partake in the training and that children from the ages of 4-5 would be accepted for training.
He further stated that the resort is a multi-million dollar project that includes an in-built artificial snow, water parks, cinema, shopping mall, suits, among others, which, he said, would create employment opportunities for the youths.

This is  a case of Akpobonism and a misplaced priority. Powering a snow resort with a diesel generator is the best way to go but again what do I know
