Man shoots and kills wife for serving him wrong delicacy

There was drama at Umida Enugu Ezike in Igboeze North LGA when a former member of the Enugu Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), Hon. Mathias Nweze, reported himself to the police for shooting his wife.

In his report to the police authorities, he claimed his generator went off twice late in the night making him suspicious of a possible robbery in his compound. He consequently brought out his gun and proceeded to shoot in the general direction of the generating set.

According to him, one of the bullets hit his wife leaving her fatally injured.

Nweze is said to have previously married five times divorcing them all except two. The victim is one of his two wives left.

Residents of the sleepy town have, however, put holes in Nweze submission to the police wondering how he could proceed to shoot in darkness without acquiring a specific target.

According to ThisDay Newspapers, neighbours who crave anonymity revealed Nweze had earlier in the day directed his wife to prepare him some delicacy but got angry when he was served what was identified as corn meal.

He was said to have gone berserk, stormed into his room and reached for his gun which he shot his wife with. She fell down in a pool of her blood writhing in pains.

The woman who had six children for Nweze was rushed to the New Testament Hospital, Ogurute Igbo-Eze North LGA where she was confirmed dead.

The Police public relations officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, a deputy superintendent of Police, confirmed the report, and added that the police have commenced full scale investigation into the circumstances which led to the shooting
