The Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chuwku has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consensus candidate for the People of Old Abakaliki Political Block for the 2015 Gubernatorial election in Ebonyi State.
The meeting, which produced Professor Chukwu was presided over by Governor Martin Elechi, and was well attended by all political office holders, past and present, and other critical stakeholders in the old Abakaliki political block.
The Forum said that the resolutions reached at the meeting followed a comprehensive analysis of the political situation and careful consideration of the factions of successions, transition and power rotation, peace, equity, fairness and good conscience.
Consequently, the people of the old Abakaliki Political Block therefore requested the Honourable Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu to make himself available for the Governorship of Ebonyi state in the 2015 general election, as a consensus candidate.
The Abakaliki Political Block explains that they have agreed to concede the position of Governorship in the 2015 election to the Ebonyi South Senatorial District and therefore enjoined all the sons and daughters from the area that are interested in the position of governorship of Ebonyi State in the next dispensation to withdraw such an ambition for the collective interest of the state in line with the resolute.
They also resolved that all Abakaliki people should support the power shift arrangement for the interest of peace and mutual existence of the various sections of the state, noting that the resolutions were taking in good faith.
