There’s nothing wrong if SSS boss is our member — APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has insisted that the Director General of the State Security Services, SSS, Lawal Daura, is not a card-carrying member of the party, saying nothing short of producing Mr. Daura’s membership card or evidence of his membership registration could prove that he is indeed a member of the APC as alleged by the PDP.

”While it amounts to rabble-rousing and crass politicking for the PDP to have wrongly accused Mr. Daura of being a member of the APC without a scintilla of credible evidence, the PDP has weakened its argument by using the pictures in which Mr. Daura appeared with the President and the fact that he served in an election committee as evidence of his membership of the APC,” the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed.

Crime and Punishment in Nigeria By Segun Adeniyi (Must Read)

Because I would be driving to the airport last Friday morning and I was not sure the fuel in my car would take me there, I decided on Thursday evening to buy fuel from the black market. So I drove to the road linking Asokoro to Garki by Area 11 where many young “fuel merchants” were waiting. After much haggling, I eventually struck a bargain with three boys who agreed to accept N5,000 for a jerry can of 30 litres. That would translate into around N167 per litre (as against the official N87 per litre which you can hardly get anywhere in Nigeria today) but I considered it a fair deal in the circumstance.

Black market sellers in Nigeria

Having been told that they were being hunted by policemen, the boys begged me to drive into a poorly lit corner of the road. Notwithstanding that I was a bit apprehensive, I felt that the boys were mere hustlers and not necessarily criminals out to harm me so I obliged their request. Even when they took a while to bring the fuel from where they kept it, I still waited. When they eventually appeared, there was a sense of unease about them that worried me. “Why are you looking scared?” I asked. One of them responded: “The police people are always after us and they have arrested many of our people.”

CMD Of FMC Owerri Dr. Angela Uwakwem Was Suspended And The Staff Of The Center Reacted To Her Sack By Dancing (Photos)

Dr. Mrs. Angela Uwakwem

Dr Mrs Angela Uwakwem has been in the news of late over the running battle she was having with the staff of the hospital because of some policies especially the private -public partnership  she introduced which did not go down with the staff of the center

She was also accused of nepotism, occultic practices within the hospital premises, high handiness and allegedly  enriching herself from the coffers of the medical center to the detriment of her former staff

At a point, the staff  of the center went on strike, demanding for her sack and from what we gathered, she was suspended on Monday this week to enable the investigative panel do their job without interference , an announcement that interpreted to mean that the thorn in their flesh have been sacked and that triggered off massive jubilation in the medical center and  the staff of the center went on dancing spree as the pictures below shows

We were told it was so serious that they invited a DJ for  the sack party

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala

Let's hear him:

It is rather unfortunate that we have this attitude of trying to pull down our best. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a global star and only came back to serve her country and she did that with passion. We gain nothing trying to pull her down. We did it with Arunma Otteh, but we know what she is today. I have been in several meetings where this woman (Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala) was almost crying as she explained and pleaded with all and sundry on the need to save for the rainy day.
