AFTER many days of protests by traders in all the major towns in Anambra State, calm has finally returned, even as the alleged promise by the Federal Government to remove the detainees from the state is being waited.

According to Vanguard report, the latest visit to Ekwulobia showed that the people were beginning to realize that the Boko Haram suspects may have been finally settled in the town. Except for glances that people make towards the Prison gate while walking along the road, life has returned to normal there
.

Those who normally supply the needs of the prison officials living in the barracks located close to the prison have also returned after nearly two weeks of suspension of business.

Similarly, those whose relations are serving their sentences in the prison and who apparently abandoned such relations following the reported presence of Boko Haram, have also started visiting them and one of them told Vanguard that there was nothing unusual in the prison when she sent food to her relation.

In Ekwulobia town, suspicion of unknown faces which was the order of the day when the detainees were brought, has reduced considerably as people move about their businesses without fear.

A resident of Ekwulobia, Mr. Everest Okoli said it would appear that government was playing politics with Boko Haram and berated those who initially denied the presence of Boko Haram in the area as hypocrites. His only worry was that the prison has been overstretched as the number of inmates has far outstripped the capacity of the prison.
