30 Years Old Man Stabs Step-Mother To Death In Kano

A 30-year-old man, Sagir Abdullahi of Kofar Dan-Agundi quarters of Kano metropolis has been taken into custody by the Police for stabbing his step mother, Zainab Abdullahi, to death.

Briefing reporters on the unfortunate incident, yesterday, in Kano, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majia, explained that the culprit sneaked into the deceased’s apartment by 1 pm and committed the act.

Majia said Sagir Abdullahi, a secondary school dropout, was overpowered by relations who handed him over to the Police, adding that the suspected has since confessed to the crime.

The Police image maker revealed that the suspect has been recommended for psychiatric evaluation to ascertain the state of his mind, stressing that Police have in the course of investigation recovered the offensive weapon and blood stained clothes.

Majia revealed that the Police would leave no stone unturned to unravel the mystery surrounding the act, adding that “we are working on several leads to unravel the mystery.”

Fielding question from newsmen, the suspect said: “I stabbed her severally in the head region until she died,” lamenting, however, that “I cannot explain why I killed her.”

He said: “My eight younger ones and I suffered serious maltreatment in the hands of the woman, and I always recalled with nostalgia how I had survived several days without food in my father’s house.

“Our woes in the house begun when my biological mother was divorced and the woman lorded it over us and reduced us to common slaves in our own house.

“I climbed the staircase when all eyes were closed, armed with a sharp dagger, I stabbed her in the nose severally while asleep and went ahead to machete her to death.”

Sagir disclosed that he was overpowered by relations who gave him the beating of his life, adding “it’s still a mystery to me why I had to kill this woman.”
