Betrayer: TB Joshua Former Pastor Open A New Church In Front Of Joshua's Church

In what seems like a battle of pastors, a breakaway clergyman from the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has set up a New Synagogue a stone’s throw from Prophet T.B. Joshua’s church and has been attracting a lot of members, P.M.NEWS can reveal.

A Lagos customary court dissolved the 15 year-old marriage between Obiora Onwutalu and his wife Ogonna Onwutalu. 50-year-old Obiora Onwutalu was accused by his wife of watching pornographic movies with their three children –14-year-old daughter, two sons, aged 13 and 9 years old respectively. Ogonna accused him of not being a good role model and being a bad influence on the kids. PM News Reports: Ogonna had asked the Ejigbo Customary Court to dissolve their marriage because her husband was a bad influence on their daughter and. Testifying before the court, Ogonna said she was shocked to hear from their children about the pornographic film they watched, which was bought by her husband. Ogonna said she destroyed the film but her husband bought another one without considering the adverse effect it would have on the children. Ogonna told the court that Obiorah’s attitude made her to stop loving him and that she has lost interest in their marriage. She also alleged that Obiorah had attempted to poison their children by forcing them to eat spoiled food and to use soap to brush their teeth. She said when the incidents happened, she reported to the police at Ejigbo division but the matter was settled out of court. She also alleged that her husband did not take good care of her and the children. Ogonna told the court that though Obiorah properly married her by paying her bride price according to their tradition in their Oba town in Anambra State and brought her to Lagos, he did not relate well with her family, especially her mother before she died. Obiorah denied all the allegations levelled against him by his wife. He told the court that his estranged wife knew about the pornographic film because they agreed to buy it when they had just got married in 1999. He further claimed that they usually watched the film together. Obiorah denied encouraging the children to watch the film, insisting that he did not know that the children were watching the film until his wife raised the issue. He also told the court that his wife lied that he did not take care of her family and attempted to poison the children. He said his wife started misbehaving because he was facing challenges in his business. Obiorah told the court he is ready to reconcile with his wife. After the parties concluded their testimonies in court, the president of the court, Mr B.A. Akano adjourned the marriage for judgement. When the matter came up on Monday, the court noted that the relationship have broken down irretrievably and dissolved the marriage.

T.B. Joshua has warned his congregation not to attend the new church or be confused by the similarities between both places of worship.

The new church is called Christ Holy Mountain, A.K.A House of Prayer, but residents refer to it as the New Synagogue because the healing sessions, miracles and mode of worship is similar to Prophet T.B. Joshua’s.

The church is located at Ajata street, behind Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area in Lagos, western Nigeria.

Investigations revealed that many worshippers who come to see T.B Joshua’s church are now diverted to the New Synagogue where miracles and healing sessions are also performed in a similar manner.

Former members of T.B. Joshua’s church have also thronged the new church, it was learnt.

The battle of pastors became public recently when Pastor T.B. Joshua, during a church service, warned his members not to attend the new church.

Joshua told worshippers that he was aware that former members of his church established a church in the area claiming that it is a New Synagogue Church. He warned members not to attend or be deceived because the church was not established by him.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the church is now providing alternative to numerous worshipers who come from within and outside the country to see Joshua but cannot due to the huge crowd waiting to see the prophet.

When P.M.NEWS visited the new church, the pastor of the church was not around to speak to our reporter. However, a senior worker at the church who identified himself simply as Godwin, confirmed that the church was founded by a breakaway pastor and some other members from SCOAN.

He said there was nothing new about members of a particular church receiving a call from God and establishing their own church.

Godwin said even Joshua prophesied that some of his members will leave the church and establish another church.

He said though both churches have similar ways of worship and miracle sessions, both churches are different as they have different names.

He said they were aware that Joshua had warned his members not attend the new church, but insisted that both churches are different.
