Governor Fayose Of Ekiti Shares Rice, Chicken, Raw Cash In Christmas ‘Stomach Infrastructure’ Programme(Photos)

Ayodele Fasose, governor of Ekiti state who famously won his election last June by distributing “stomach infrastructure” to voters, has carried on with his policy into the Christmas season. Between Thursday and Saturday, he had distributed over 80,000 birds and 100,000 bags of rice to Ekiti citizens, according to a statement from his press office. He also doled out cash, Idowu Adelusi, his chief press secretary, said.

While some besieged the governor’s office to collect the largesse, others had theirs delivered to their doorsteps. On Saturday, as early as 10am, Fayose and his team started distributing the package to the people who kept steaming into his office.

He later moved to the market places with same package, designating all the 16 local government areas as centres for the distribution. Fayose told journalists that what takes priority in his heart daily is the welfare of the people of the state “who against all odds returned me to office after eight years”.

Asked why he gave out cash, he said: “They need to buy pepper, salt, maggi, palm oil etc to cook the chicken.”

Those who benefited are widows, the aged, pensioners, traders and artisans. He said the exercise will continue till the Christmas Day, adding that the teachers will take their turn on Monday. Fayose appointed a special aide on stomach infrastructure when he assumed office.
