Former Vice President of the World Bank, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 debunked claims of an alleged affair between herself and former president Olusegun Obasanjo after the latter was seen embracing and pecking her at the launch of his autobiography, “My Watch” which was held at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

Punch reports that several online commentators have come out to point accusing fingers at Ezekwesili, who served as Minister of Education during Obasanjo’s regime, claiming she conducted herself inappropriately as a married woman.

One of such groups, Hope For Nigeria, had this to say:
#BringBackOurGirls Leader Doing Their Rituals.
This is Mrs Oby Ezekwesili the #BringBackOurGirls crusader doing their normal-normal with Letter writer and former President, Obasanjo at the OBJ’s book Launch.
Saint Oby Ezekwesili forgot that she was in a public place and a married woman. She threw caution to the wind, anyway, we can see her sticking out her finger in excitement, while the Chemistry lasted.
What manner of role model will this woman be, to young Nigerian girls that looks up to her?”
In her defence, the #BringBacOurGirls campaigner said: “My former boss – President Obasanjo – gave me a boisterous greeting at his event yesterday (Tuesday) and the impure in heart now turn it to lurid tales.

“Restoring family values will also help take us back to a descent society. It is clear that many among us have lost our pure hearts.

“Let us leave them to their lowliness. It is out of the abundance of the filthiness or purity of heart that the mouth speaks.”

  1. Sad. Among my people, the Igbo, traditionally its wrong for a man to even shake hands with a woman, let alone a married woman. Hopefully we'll go back to our traditions one day....after we realize that 'modernization' only destabilized us.
