The death has been announced of Osayi Omoigui, a young lady who was set to wed on 10th January 2015 having had her engagement on 19th August 2014. Osayi was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Monday, 29th December 2014 and she is said to have died instantly. It’s a very sad incident for her husband-to-be, family members and friends who are mourning the demise of a young loving soul. Already, friends had bought off the aso-ebi for the wedding till the news of her death broke.

Babangida was speaking at his Minna home on Saturday where he received Jonathan, who said he was on a mission to discuss as “father and son” with the retired general.

“What I will say is simple: the president means well for this country and he is working well for this country. Anybody who means well for this country should support the President to make sure that Nigeria survives as a united country,” he said.

Jonathan, who described his meeting with Babangida as “fruitful”, told journalists after the closed door meeting that he visited the former military leader because he just returned from a medical trip abroad.

The Edo State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has declared a manhunt for a suspected witness of a dastardly murder that was likely committed in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The manhunt followed the arrest by the Ikpoba Hill Police Division of the suspected murderer, Mr. Festus Aimufua, for the wicked murder of one Ms. Rose Aifuwa, a middle-aged Benin woman based in Austria, who had come home in a healthy, hale and hearty condition to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities with her family and friends.

A woman who just landed in Nigeria from the United States of America to celebrate the Christmas in her village in Anambra State, wept uncontrollably at the Maza-Maza area of Lagos State on Tuesday after a luggage carrier (porter) disappeared with her items, including $8,000 dollars (N1.4 million).

Eyewitnesses said the America-based woman, simply identified as Nkechinyere, alerted a load carrier to help her carry her luggage to one of the interstate buses at the Maza-Maza Motor Park.

The woman only looked away briefly and before she knew it, the load carrier had disappeared with her luggage containing $8,000, her passport and other important documents.

More than 200 Muslim youth volunteers are part of those protecting Christians during church services to celebrate this year’s Christmas in Kaduna, says Pastor Yohanna Buru.

Buru, a cleric of Christ Evangelical Church, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna South, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kaduna.

He confirmed that over 200 Muslims were at his church to help protect the faithful from any attack during the church service.

How My Prayers Healed An Ebola Victim – Pastor Kumuyi Of Deeper Life

Over the weekend, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi revealed how his prayer healed an Ebola patient in one of the Ebola infested countries.

The soldiers sentenced to death for mutiny in September 2014

A military court martial has sentenced four more Nigerian soldiers to death after finding them guilty of mutiny.

The soldiers, Bankole Taiwo, Ayodele Olawale, Isaiah Olofu and Adebayo Gbenga are set to die by firing squad.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s TV Station Shut Over Tax Evasion

Officials of the Lagos Internal Revenue Service, LIRS, have shut down Infinity Television owned by flamboyant preacher, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, for owing the state government several millions.

Nigerian troops on Wednesday foiled a suicide attack targeting soldiers on stop-and-search duty in Gombe State, the defence headquarters said.

In a statement, military spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, a Major General, said the suicide bomber failed to detonate his explosive despite ramming his vehicle into a military check point in Bajoga Local Government.

“His attempt to escape also failed as he was brought down by vigilant soldiers when he tried to flee after hitting a military Armoured Personnel Carrier with his IED-laden Honda car,” Mr. Olukolade said.

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has declared a 2-week holiday for civil servants and public servants in the state ahead of the Yuletide.

Mozambique Legalises Abortion To Stem Maternal Deaths

Mozambique has passed a law permitting women to terminate unwanted pregnancies under specified conditions without risking punishment, a move hailed by activists in a country where clandestine abortions account for a large number of maternal deaths.

President Armando Guebuza on Thursday quietly signed into law a revised penal code bill that eases prohibitions in abortion regulations, a move hailed by health groups.

Former captain of the Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo, on Friday led a group known as PDP Ward 2 Ward Initiative to the Presidential Villa Abuja to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan for second term.

Addressing State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with the president, Yobo said Jonathan deserved a second term to continue the “good work” he had started.

The ex-international, who is the group’s brand ambassador, said the president had done so well for the youth and called on them to re-elect him in 2015.
