Chaos and pandemonium is apt to describe the scene in most Nigerian banks this morning as customers besieged banks to comply with    Bank Verification Number (BVN) deadline billed for today.


The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had given all banks up till today to update their customers’ data in a bid to check money laundering and other financial crimes. By the end of June 2015, the about 34 million bank customers in Nigeria are expected to have keyed into the biometric data capture policy and have their bank verification numbers (BVN).
But the CBN said bank customers who failed the BVN deadline would be able to have access to their accounts at the banking hall only while they would be able to do internet banking.

Traders, Artisans To Shut Down Anambra Today As FG Relocates 40 Boko Haram Prisoners To Anambra

As a result of an allged relocation of about 40 Boko Haram detainees from the Northern zone of the country to Ekwulobia prisons in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state, last Sunday, traders in the state, under the aegis of Anambra Markets Amalgamated Traders Association ( AMATAS ) and artisans, yesterday, vowed to stage what they termed as ‘mother of all’ protests today against the relocation exercise.

Disclosing this in a telephone interview with Sun Newspaper, Publicity Secretary of AMATAS, Dede Uzor A. Uzor said since the federal government had refused to feel the pulse of the Anambra people last Saturday who closed markets in the state in protest against the move to relocate the prisoners and gone head to relocate the prisoners, traders and other stakeholders had concluded arrangements to stage a mother of all protests today.

A FORMER Catholic Archbishop has told the High Court he had an "inappropriate" sexual relationship with a woman in Nigeria which began in 1989 when she was aged 20 and he was 40.


Tipperary-born Richard Burke (66), ordained a priest in 1975, said he felt "uneasy" about the demeanour of then 20-year-old Dolores Atwood, which "gave an impression of being flirtatious", when she came unexpectedly to his private apartment on a Sunday afternoon in the Nigerian city of Warri in September or October 1989.

A woman who is popularly referred to by the Local Vigilante as the queen of Marijuana in Anambra state  has been arrested in Idemili North in Anambra State over the weekend.

The woman was badly brutalized by the  Local vigilante in idemili North of Anambra claiming that she has been the sole source/distributor of Marijuana in the entire South East region. The woman, simply referred to as 'Queen' has been on the wanted list of both the police and the Vigilante for a long time. She reportedly runs her business from the Idemili Axis from where she distributes to other South Eastern State.

Dangote, whose 2015 net worth was put at $21.6billion, according to Forbes, also revealed how the late Chief M. K. O. Abiola discouraged him from investing in the media.

Former Principal Security Officer To Patience Jonathan Murdered By Unknown Gunmen





A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was Principal Security Officer to former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has been shot dead by unknown assailants.

Igbomie’s corpse was found in his Honda Accord car last Friday along the Airport Road, Abuja.

The former PSO, who was married with two children, was believed to have been killed by assassins who shot him at point-blank range in his car and left the engine running.



A source said the body of the DSP was found early in the morning with all his phones, wallet and other personal effects intact in the car.

NDLEA is currently investigating Davido (real name David Adeleke) for showcasing hard drugs in the video featuring Maybach Group artist,Meek Mill.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, South-East geopolitical zone, has described as,”blatant falsehood” the alleged plan by Federal Government to transfer Boko Haram prisoners’ to Ekwulobia Prison in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

This is coming on the heels of protests by angry youth, yesterday, in markets in Anambra State over the alleged plan.

 But in a swift reaction, the Spokesperson, APC, South-East, Mr. Osita Okechukwu in a statement said,” we wish to state categorically that the rumour making the rounds that Boko Haram detainees will be transferred to Anambra State or any other state for that matter is blatant falsehood.

Touched by the plight of children of Staff of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in finding very suitable crèche close to their work place the Parishioners of the Chapel of The Healing Cross, Idi-Araba have completed and handed over a N14m crèche to the management of the hospital.

At a brief ceremony to mark the dedication and handing over, the Vicar of the Church, Venerable Tunde Osho noted that the decision to build a crèche for the hospital came to the fore in 2012 when church members donated a N6m cardio vascular equipment in 2012.

“We found it needful then to donate a Staff Crèche as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the church which was in 2013.

It was a tragic Saturday as 7 passengers died in a fatal auto crash In Mokwa   along  along Kainji Road Niger State

According to an eye witness present at the scene of the accident who alerted this Blog , the driver of the big truck slept off while on sterling and before one could say Jack Robinson, he collided with the Toyota Corolla car that was  in the other Kanji lane. The Toyota Corrolla  had 7 passengers  that includes a serving NYSC corper inside and they all died before medical attention or help could arrive.

Again, the Toyota Corolla car was overloaded, 7 people inside one car  and the driver could not control the car  when the truck hit it according to interim report made by men of Federal Road Safety Corps on ground

This tragic accident once more remind us why we should avoid overloaded vehicle because life has no duplicate

I hate poverty, seeing me in a private jet shouldn’t be a big deal – Governor Rochas Okorocha



Rochas Okorocha, the Governor of Imo State, has affirmed that there is no big deal for a government official to fly private jet.

Speaking with SaharaTV on Saturday, Okocorcha said he hated poverty and injustice, adding that anyone criticizing private jet owner was poor.

He also addressed issues of political factions in the National Assembly (NASS), the presidential and gubernatorial elections in the South-East.

Wike Seizes Amaechi’s Aide And Former Rivers Chief Of Staff Bulletproof Range Rover






The Rivers State government on Saturday impounded an armoured Range Rover belonging to the immediate past Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha.

The bullet-proof vehicle was removed from Okocha residence at Rumuigbo in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area at about 9am by security operatives attached to Government House.

Traders and artisans operating in Anambra State yesterday shut all markets in the state and blocked the major roads in protest over an information that the Federal Government had plans to transfer some Boko Haram detainees to Prisons in the State.

The protesters numbering more than 20,000 marched out to the roads as early as 8.30 am, carrying placards and chanting anti- Federal Government songs to support their protest.

In Onitsha, all the major roads including the Onitsha/Enugu Express way, the Head bridge,Awka Road, Old and New Market Roads were blocked to traffic, causing all vehicles to pack and waIt endlessly.

Market Shut In Anambra As Protest Rocks Onitsha Over Alleged Plan To Transfer Boko Haram Prisoners To Awka

 



Markets in Anambra state were shut today over the plans by the state Government to impose tax on the traders 

According to my source in Onitsha, Governor Obiano had a meeting with the traders where he uneveield his tax plans to the traders which includes 18,000 Naira tax levy to be paid by  each trader In Anambra 

The traders were uncomfortable with the plan decided to shut their markets today in order to pass a message to the government that they are uncomfortable with his tax plan 

How ever mischief makers went to town this morning with the wicked rumor of plans already approved by the federal government to transfer Boko Haram prisoners to the state 

The commercial city of Onitsha and Awka is currently experincing protests by aggrieved residents protesting the alleged plans to transfer Boko Haram Prisoners to Awka the state capital

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has denied making any comments regarding Thursday’s brawl at the House of Representatives.

The Nigerian media was agog with tweets via a handle bearing the name of the Deputy Senate President @Ike_ekweremadu.

The tweet read: “Dear Nigerians, please be rest assured that we are all fighting for your interest. We need your prayer and support for a better Nigeria”.

But on Friday, in a statement, Mr. Ekweremadu speaking through his media aide, Uche Anichukwu, said the twitter handle is a parody as he had shut down all his social media platform in June 2014.
