At least 20 people were killed when a female suicide bomber detonated her explosives at a bus station in Maiduguri, a civilian vigilante and a survivor said on Monday, June 22, 2015.

“We have sorted out 20 dead bodies and 50 others that were injured,” said vigilante Danlami Ajaokuta and a survivor who escaped the blast near the city’s fish market on Baga Road.

“The two blasts just occurred simultaneously and many people are feared dead because it happened when the market was full of buyers and sellers rushing to conclude transactions and head home die to the Ramadan fasting,” he said.

Since the commencement of Ramadan late last week, this is the first attack in the city, which has recorded series of such incident in recent times.

This attack comes just as President Muhammadu Buhari orders removal of all military checkpoints in the country which is still at war with Boko Haram.
