Hundreds of cyclists stripped naked and mounted their bikes for an extraordinary protest through the streets of London on Saturday afternoon. in honor of World Naked Bike Ride Day, an annual event dating back to 2004, which asks commuters to, well, do exactly what you'd expect.
The event, held in more than 20 countries worldwide, has the dual purpose of "protesting against oil dependency" and "celebrating the power and individuality of our bodies."
Surprised onlookers watched on as hordes of nude and semi-nude riders set off from six points around the capital as part of a rally against car culture and oil dependency.
The London stage of the annual World Naked Bike Ride began around 2.30pm, with cyclists reaching the finish point at Wellington Arch by Hyde Park about three hours later.
The protest, which is also aimed at raising awareness about the safety of cyclists, sent social media into a spin.
The demo caused limited disruption on central roads with cyclists turning heads as they made their way past major London landmarks including the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square.
There are not thought to have been any arrests in connection with the event, a Scotland Yard spokeswoman said.
While Saturday is the official day to go au naturale, various cities hold their bike rides on different days throughout June. Check out pictures from London, Chicago and Toronto, who held their no-clothes spin this weekend
