Nigeria: Boko Haram - U.S. Denies Allegation of Refusal to Sell Arms to Nigeria

The American Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle disclosed on Thursday in Yola that the Boko Haram insurgency in the north eastern part of Nigeria is more political than religious

The American ambassador, who made the disclosure during a press conference at the American University of Nigerian (AUN), said the fact that the two major religions had suffered massive casualties from the activities of Boko Haram should be a pointer to the fact that the insurgency was not religious. according to a report in Leadership Newspaper

The ambassador said that the American government was working closely with its Nigerian counterpart to combat the activities of the Boko Haram, adding that his country had been assisting Nigeria in the area of military training and intelligence.
The Ambassador denied the allegation that his country refused selling war equipment to Nigeria, adding that the latest war equipment procured by Nigerian Navy was from the America government.
