It was wailing and weeping at the popular Upper Iweka area of Onitsha, the commercial capital of Anambra State as a merciless inferno consumed many and wounded scores others on Sunday afternoon.

The fire was caused by a fuel-laden tanker, which fell and spilled its content and then burst into raging  fire , catching many commuters, hawkers and prospective passengers unawares, even as many escaped with various degree of injuries.

Breaking;48 Hours After Leaving Nigeria: US Secretary Of State John Kerry injured in cycling accident in France

The US secretary of state, John Kerry, was in a stable condition in a Geneva hospital after being injured in an accident while cycling near Scionzier, France, his spokesman has said.

Kerry, 71, was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Geneva, where he was being examined, spokesman John Kirby said.

“Secretary Kerry is stable and likely suffered a leg injury. He did not lose consciousness,” Kirby added.

Well, I have never really believed in retinue of aides whether in or outside of the public office. My philosophy is that you just have to live your life because office is a temporary position. I have been a bank chairman and was once a governor. While I was in all these positions I lived a very simple life. If you call it a reflection of my personality, I am humbled.


Aren’t you afraid of being attacked as some ex-public officials still move around with security apparatus?
Who will attack me? Nobody will attack me. I do not owe anybody and I don’t know why anybody would want to attack me. What did I do? For instance, you met me sitting alone. It is a lifestyle because it gives me time to think and ruminate over everything and anything. You know one of the most important aspects of my life is thinking, having a time to reflect on your life and what you are doing. How you are helping humanity and most importantly on how best you can help in building a better country.

In a few hours, Mr. Jonathan will begin his journey back to his native Otuoke.

On Thursday, labourers were putting finishing touches to five buildings at Mr. Jonathan’s residence.

Two roadblocks, mounted by the operatives of Battalion 5 of the Joint Task Force Operation Pulo Shield, were situated on either side of the spacious compound.

Movements were restricted around the premises.

On Thursday afternoon, the soldiers arrested a journalist with The Punch Newspapers for taking photographs of the compound.

Nigerian Bar Association Suspends Rivers Attorney-General

Members of Port Harcourt branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) yesterday passed a vote of no confidence in the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Worgu Boms, for his alleged role in the closure of courts.

Rivers courts were closed on June 10, last year, following an indefinite strike by members of State Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) over the Chief Judge (CJ) crisis.

In uttermost sheer of disregard for law, the Chocolate Royal management has broken into their sealed complex through the back door and evacuated the pastries to other of their outlets in Shoprite and Lekki, The City Reporters can authoritatively report.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Commission (NAFDAC) had Tuesday night last week shut down Chocolat Royal owned by the Lebanese billionaire owner of Cool, Wazobia, Nigeria Info FM radio stations, Cool and WEE television station Mr Amin Moussalli.

NAFDAC had given a stop sale order on the pastries showcased inside the down restaurant of Chocolat Royal following the realization that they were produced with unregistered and expired imported food products as the chef and other kitchen staff were caught red handed using them.

The real reasons the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Tuesday night, sealed completely the business outlet of a popular elite and confectionary company, Chocolat Royal has emerged, The City Reporters can exclusively report.

Apart from the importation, storage and use of fake, unregistered and expired/unwholesome food products to produce consumables for customers, we can authoritatively report that Chocolat Royal was sealed by NAFDAC on discovery of six illegal 40ft cold rooms fully stocked with contaminated food products built on top of sewages (suck away pit) and in front of toilets.

Not only that majority of these food products discovered, have expired since 2004, (11- years ago) and the least 2013, the most worrisome aspect of it all was the discovery to the consternation of NAFDAC officials that the management of Chocolat Royal had revalidated the expiring dates of almost all the food products, while 90 % of them were not even written in English language and therefore not registered.

Very tragic. A Nigeria Air Force pilot Duke Toryem lost his life in the line of duty during a raid on the Boko Haram sect on Friday May 22, 2015.  He was said to have been killed by an explosive after an attack on the Northern insurgents. He died at the age of 26. May his soul rest in peace. 

PDP Board of Trustees appoints ex-Minister, Haliru Mohammed, Acting Chairman Of BOT

The Board of Trustees of Nigeria’s ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has appointed a former acting national Chairman of the party, and ex-defence minister, Haliru Mohammed, as its acting Chairman.

Mr. Mohammed’s nomination was endorsed Monday night by the PDP’s BoT at a meeting at the Aso Rock presidential villa, Abuja.
