Stubborn Chocolat Royal Defies NAFDAC Seal, Evacuates Banned Pastries To Other Outlets As Nigerians React

the banned pastries

In uttermost sheer of disregard for law, the Chocolate Royal management has broken into their sealed complex through the back door and evacuated the pastries to other of their outlets in Shoprite and Lekki, The City Reporters can authoritatively report.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Commission (NAFDAC) had Tuesday night last week shut down Chocolat Royal owned by the Lebanese billionaire owner of Cool, Wazobia, Nigeria Info FM radio stations, Cool and WEE television station Mr Amin Moussalli.

NAFDAC had given a stop sale order on the pastries showcased inside the down restaurant of Chocolat Royal following the realization that they were produced with unregistered and expired imported food products as the chef and other kitchen staff were caught red handed using them.

While NAFDAC shut down the entire restaurant with it seal and departed, the management of Chocolat Royal sneaked inside through the back door which was not noticed by NAFDAC officials and evacuated the pastries to their Shoprite outlet and Lekki phase 1 outlet all located on the Island for sale to unsuspecting members of the public.

A furious NAFDAC Director of enforcement Mr. Ejiofor said that they have no choice than to seal the remaining two outlets to ensure that the management of Chocolat Royal stops the spread of food poison to the public.

He also said that he will not hesitate to send officials to the sealed 267A Etim Inyang Crescent headquarters of Chocolat Royal to confirm adding that if it turned out to be true, “then it constitutes and offence and we will punish them accordingly.”

We however can authoritatively report that Mr Amin Moussalli the Lebanese billionaire owner of Cool, Wazobia, Nigeria Info FM and Chocolat Royal is on the run following the discovery and evacuation of illegal 40ft cold rooms fully stocked with imported unregistered, expired food products in his resident and Chocolat Royal premises.

The six illegal cold rooms which were built on top of sewage and in front of toilet was said to contain expired food products which have expired since 11 years ago and valued for N1bn were evacuated by NAFDAC last week Tuesday.

According to NAFDAC Director General, Dr Paul Ohii, the most worrisome aspect of the whole offence is that the management of Chocolat Royal had revalidated the expiring dates of almost all the food products, while 90 % of them were not even written in English language and therefore not registered.

He said while two of the illegal cold rooms built in front of toilets were discovered at the Chocolat Royal headquarters at 267A Etim Iyang Crescent, another two were discovered and also sealed at N0 1 Karimu Kotun resident of the Chairman, Mr Amin Moussalli both located in Victoria Island Lagos.

Investigations revealed that Mr Moussalli the chairman of AIM consultants who is now at large travels abroad to source for companies whose food products have few months to expire.

This Lebanese business mogul receives these products mostly for free or at a reduced price and also gets paid from these companies to evacuate the products which ordinarily would have cost them colossal amount of money to dispose and ships in large quantities to Nigeria which has become his dumping ground for food toxic for close to two decades.

These products are then cleared at the wharf and offloaded inside the two cold rooms at his Karimu Kotun resident, Victoria Island where they are then transferred to Chocolat Royal headquarters and then used to prepare ice creams, chocolates, beverages and pastries for members of the public.

Nigerians, some who might have might have purchased the alleged expired food items from Chocolat Royale took to Twitter vent their frustration. See some tweets below…...
