Nnamdi Azikiwe Son Chukwuma Is Dead

The first son of Nigeria’s First President, Late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chukwuma Bamidele, is dead.
He died on Sunday at the age of 75.


He passed on at the Borommeo Hospital, Onitsha, a missionary hospital just a stone throw to his Inisi Onira country home, Onitsha in the early hours of Sunday.





A family source, who claimed anonymity told the Nation Newspaper  on Monday that the deceased had been battling with respiratory ailment for years now.

The source said Bamidele, as he was called by friends and associates, died at Borromeo Hospital in the commercial city of Onitsha.


Before his death, he was addressed in Onitsha as the Owelle, replacing his late father in 1996.a traditional position he inherited from his late father in 1996 . As Owelle, Chukwuma was sixth in the title  ranking in Onitsha.

He had, in 1991, aspired to govern the old Anambra State and after that unsuccessful bid, he never contested for any other public office.

According to a family source, details about his funeral would be announced later in accordance with the Onitsha customs and tradition.
