An Onitsha based businessman, Chief Eugene Arthur Nworah has petitioned  the National Assembly and other relevant authorities over the use of the Nigerian Police to invade his G.R.A  premises and subsequent detention in   facilities belonging to Special Armed Robbery Squad (SARS) headquarters, Awkuzu, Anambra state.

Chukwudi Iwuxhukwu Blog Learnt  that in a strong worded petition copied to the Senate President, Sen. David Mark, speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, Senator representing Anambra South, Sen. Andy Uba and his House of Representative counterpart, Hon. Chris Azubogu, Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chinwe Nwaebili, among others.
Chief  Nworah (Nwajimma) alleged that on the 19th day of March, 2014 a full team of SARS operatives led by CSP James Nwafor invaded his GRA residence, Onitsha while he was out of the country on a business trip and traumatized his wife and other family members over a frivolous directive by a billionaire businessman, Sir Emeka Offor.

According to Chief  Nworah when he came back on the 23rd of March he was briefed by his wife on how the police had laid siege on his premises for three days in a bid to arrest him dead or life, adding that he was greatly traumatized by the treatment meted out to him while in police custody for two weeks.

According to the petitioner. “ when I came back from my business trip I personally drove to Central Police Station, Onitsha to ascertain the reason behind the invasion where I was told that the state Special Armed Robbery Squad was after me following a directive by a billionaire oil magnate, Chief Emeka Offor who hails from the same oraifite community with me”.
He lamented  that he was being persecuted because of a business deal worth over nine hundred and forty five million naira (945,000,000) in which he had accused Chief Offor of being responsible for the loss.
In a response to his later to the Senate President dated, 19th April, 2014, the Senate President in  his acknowledgement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Victor Abang in ref: no: NASS/S/Sp/SA/PA/Compt/03/1/1417 indicated that the matter had been referred to the House Committee on Police Affairs for necessary action.
Chief Nworah, however, solicited all relevant authorities and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Sir Emeka Offor’s associates to compel the business mogul to pay him back the worth of his seven 20 feet containers which were filled with brassier which Sir Offor had auctioned through his cronies in the Nigeria Customs Service.

A Federal High Court, Awka presided over by Justice  M.L. Abubakar had on 12th may, 2014 entered judgment in favour of Chief Nworah where the applicant had sought compensation from the police over the violation of his fundamental human right and a cost of N2million  damages awarded to the applicant.
