Two dare devil robbers who specalise in robbing on motor-cycles met their Waterloo in Onitsha yesterday. The two armed robbers said to have been terrorizing Nkpor and its environs, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State were yesterday set ablaze by irate mob when their attempt to re-enact their trade failed.
Luck ran out of them when they attempted to snatch money from a trader who was said to have come from the Northern part of country to buy goods at the Nkpor New tyre market.
Operating on their bike, they stopped the trader along the Onitsha/Enugu expressway, close to the market at gun-point and ordered him to hand over the money he was carrying in a bag to them.
But as the trader resisted their order, they shot at him three times but the bullet allegedly did not penetrate his body.
Seeing that bullets did not penetrate the man, they sensed danger and wanted to runaway when the trader brought out his knife and stabbed one of them on the chest.
An on-coming vehicle hit their bike and both fell off as they mounted on their bike to run away.
On- lookers who were watching the event immediately mobilized, arrested the two robbers and set them ablaze.
The police who were contacted stormed the scene, recovered their gun and motorbike which they took away while the bodies of the robbers burned.
Contacted, the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Mr. Hassan Musa, confirmed the incident. He said that investigation is ongoing on the matter.
