Anambra 2013:APGA too desperate to win-Ngige. My rival suffers from intellectual poverty — Obiano -

ObianoAPGA too desperate to win, says Ngige

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State, Senator Chris Ngige, yesterday told United States (US) diplomats that the desperation of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to win at all cost could derail the election.

“APGA’s desperation to win the November 16 governorship election has manifested in its destruction of APC billboards, posters and attacks on members of my campaign team,” Ngige told Messrs Rolfe Olson and Craig Lanless, the Political/Economic Section chief, US Consulate, Lagos and Political counsellor, US embassy, Abuja, who interacted with him at Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area.

In a statement by the Director, Ngige 2014 Campaign Organisation, Chief Charles Amilo, the APC standard-bearer said the odds were against Mr. Willie Obiano, APGA’s candidate, “as he is the greenest horn of all the candidates and Anambra State does not appear to be ready for a governor who is coming to learn the ropes.”
Ngige told the diplomats that APC was well grounded in the state, adding that the propaganda about its status was baseless.

“What Anambra people are interested in is a capable and reliable governor, not a political party. The state has suffered developmentally and it cannot afford to be ruled by a learning governor,” he said.
Ngige said his programmes had a special place for children and women through free education and free medical care for expectant and nursing mothers.
He urged the diplomats to inform their government to increase the number of election observers for the election, as the state’s 21 local governments and 356 wards would not be adequately covered by the proposed 20 observers.

“The November 16 governorship election is a major test for Nigeria to attain genuine democracy. If the country must move forward, the outcome of the poll must reflect the wishes of the people,” Ngige said.

In a related development, Dr Willie Obiano ,the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in a recent interview came down heavily on fellow contestants by describing them as intellectual fraudsters. Hear Dr Wilie

"I have seen adverts by people in the media castigating others and even the incumbent Governor because they want to become Governor.
If  you   lie against one another because you want to become governor, you are telling us that you are not fit for the office. In fact, I take it as a sign of intellectual poverty when I see somebody who cannot tell us about his manifesto but who revels in heaping lies against people.

If such a man is allowed to become Governor, only God knows what the thrust of his government will be.   I   have seen      a particular candidate calling on Gov. Obi to account for the 3 trillion he has received as Governor. For a person at that level to peddle such falsehood smacks of supreme mischief or very poor calculations.    How can          somebody say that kind of thrash when the yearly budget of the State is a matter of public knowledge?

Do not vote for people because they share money, for they will steal your money to recover their expenses. Do not vote for people that will not protect our people in any part of Nigeria by supporting primitive actions such as deportation of our people. Do not vote people who did not contribute anything to the institutions where they are now or where they served in the past. If a Senator did not pass one bill for three years at the senate, if you vote for him, he will simply continue the slumber in Government House "
