The governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Dickson is back in Nigeria after being away for two weeks. He was on a two-week official trip to the Lincoln University in the United States (U.S.).
Upon his return, he was received by notable Bayelsa indigenes, including his deputy, Rear Admiral John Jonah.
He accused the opposition of adopting a strategy of blackmail and propaganda to discredit his administration, and advised Bayelsans not to fall into the trap of the “despondency and lies being launched by the opposition.”
While he was away, there were rumours that he had been arrested in London with $50 million. Echoes of the fate of one of his predecessors in office, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, whose end began following a trip abroad reverberated through the state. However Dickson while denying the rumours, said that the “lies and untrue reports being churned out by the opposition” will not deter him, as his focus was how to make Bayelsa respected in the comity of states.
