DIVORCE COURT:9-Year-Old Marriage Crumbles As Man Impregnates Wife’s Cousin
The nine years old marriage of an alleged randy man has crashed because he allegedly impregnated his wife’s cousin. The wife, Mrs. Adenike Oye, who petitioned an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court and sought for divorce, alleged that her husband, Mr. Oye impregnated her cousin, Tosin who had been living with them over the years.
According to her, the cousin was helping them in domestic and other menial works at home. The petitioner also prayed the court to dissolve their marriage on ground of frequent fighting, lack of care for her and the children by her estranged husband.
Her words: “I had two kids for him aside from the two that are alive now. It is very painful and unfortunate that I lost the two kids and that is why the one my cousin has for the respondent is now older than another two kids which I have for him.”
She said her husband is a driver and that he had never been responsible, adding that the respondent used to womanize and that he used to go out at his own will and come back late to house.
She urged the court to dissolve the marriage and allow the children to be under her custody for proper care. She, however, prayed the court to order that the respondent should be responsible for the children’s upkeep and education at all levels.
Delivering his judgment, the President of the court, Mr. Joseph Ogunseemi said, based on the testimony of the petitioner, it was clear to the court that she had been maltreated by the husband, with her kids. Consequently, he dissolved the marriage and ordered that the respondent must be paying N5,000 on each child every month for the upkeep of the two children starting from October, 2013.
The petitioner said her husband could have access to his children whenever he wishes to visit them but must notify them of his coming. The respondent, who was said to have absented himself from the court in previous invitations and therefore was deemed to have admitted all the allegations levelled against him in the open court.
