It was weeping and wailing for the residents of Iroye street, Ilesa
when a young man, identified as Wale Agbaje beat his wife to death
over a minor disagreement.
Residents of the area told our correspondent yesterday that the couple
frequently engaged one another in squabble.
One of the residents informed that Agbaje was said to have hit his
wife with concrete block on her forehead which led to her sudden
collapse. Sympathizers took her to a private hospital nearby. But she
died on arrival there and her corps deposited in a mortuary.
Detectives from ‘B’ Division Headquarters, Ilesa have arrest the man
and he is currently assisting the police in their investigation into
the matter.
The intervention of security operative however saved the suspect from
being mobbed by the residents who were angry over the development.
When contacted, a top police officer who does not want his name
mentioned confirmed the incident. He explained that the state command
has commenced investigation into
the root cause of the matter adding that the suspect would soon be
arraigned before the court.
